Georgia House commends well known race-baiting anti-enforcement activist, GALEO’s Jerry Gonzalez

April 8, 2021 By D.A. King

Obama nominee lost confirmation to federal judgeship due to ties to GALEO

GOP allows Democrat thespian Rep Park Cannon to use the House to reward leftists with official recognition and commendation

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

“California is going to become a Hispanic state and if anyone doesn’t like it they should leave. They ought to go back to Europe.” — Mario Guerra Obledo, co-founder of MALDEF, on the Tom Likus radio show, 1998

The 2021 Republican-controlled Georgia House passed a privileged resolution “recognizing and commending” Jerry Gonzalez. It’s a real head-shaker. And it is lazy lack of attention to official business and another example of timid and misplaced GOP trust in the deceitful Democrats.

Gonzalez is a former lobbyist for the above-mentioned MALDEF mob. He has been leader of Atlanta’s far-left and innocuously named Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO) Corporation since 2003.

Privileged resolutions are passed as a group after the House Clerk reads part of each out loud if no member objects. This reading includes the name of the recipient. If no member objects to any part of the bundle presented they all pass. If there is objection, members can have the opportunity to vote on singular resolutions. Put another way, when the clerk read the words “recognizing and commending Jerry Gonzalez…” any house member could have spoken up when the Speaker asked if there were any objections to the adoption of the privileged resolutions…” Nobody did.

A shorter explanation of the process is that lawmakers vote “yes” by remaining silent. Part of this House legislative process can be seen here in a two-minute video.

Jerry Gonzalez. Photo: DIS files.

Jerry Gonzalez (Gerardo Eleazar Gonzalez) is widely known for his contempt for all things conservative and for marching in the streets of Atlanta demanding an end to immigration enforcement. He has proudly lobbied under the Gold Dome against voter ID, use of E-Verify, official English for government, honoring immigration holds in Georgia jails, and for personally escorting self-described illegal aliens into the Georgia Capitol.

In a classic example of why he is tagged “Angry Jerry” the Rome News reported on a 2015 experience diminutive state Rep Katie Dempsey had with Gonzalez when he was removed from an event for screaming at her for supporting immigration enforcement.

From the House Resolution commending and congratulating GALEO’s Jerry Gonzalez (HR 305):

“WHEREAS, Jerry’s significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with and unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness;…”

The House clerk’s office tells me the recipients of these resolution commendations receive a framed print of the entire document – “with a nice ribbon” for display on their walls.

You can see the happy press release crowing about the GOP-led Jerry Gonzalez resolution on the GALEO website.

Then – U.S. Senator David Perdue found Gonzalez and GALEO to be so radical that he stopped the 2016 confirmation process of a former GALEO board member, Dax Lopez, for federal judge because of the affiliation. We were proud to help with Sen Perdue’s education with a “Beginners guide to GALEO.”

Jerry Gonzalez was not the only race-baiting, Marxist radical who opposes additional vote security in Georgia to be recognized and congratulated by the Republican-ruled Georgia House (we haven’t checked the state senate).

Below is a short list of others we are aware of and their associations. Warning: Don’t let the misleading names of the leftist groups (see links) confuse you on their real agendas.

HR 252 – – Helen Ho –

HR 276  – – Stephanie Cho

Financial support from Coca-Cola and a lawsuit against Georgia’s election law

Jerry Gonzalez often posts expressions of gratitude to the Coca-Cola Co. for their long-standing financial support.

Photo: GALEO Facebook

Did we mention Jerry Gonzalez and GALEO are part of a lawsuit against the Georgia election security law, SB 202?

Here is Angry Jerry quoted in a “progressive” news report

“The intent of this new law was to discriminate against minority and poor voters in Georgia,” said GALEO chief executive officer Jerry Gonzalez. “Our communities will stand together to work against these Jim Crow tactics pushing to take our state backwards”.

How did these resolutions ever see the light of day? They were all introduced by a Democrat Representative you may have seen in ‘the news’ recently – Atlanta’s theatrical Park Cannon.

More on this little airhead another time, but readers need to know the level of admiration for her that comes from such erudite sources as MTV in their “Meet Park Cannon.”

Republican legislators should start paying more attention to the resolutions they pass. Voters should insist on it. Ask about the “Jerry Gonzalez Resolution.”

Written testimony in support of HB 228 from a proud U.S. citizen, immigrant and Army veteran

February 25, 2021 By D.A. King

Top: Current GA.drivers license issued to foreign nationals. Bottom, Drivers license proposed in HB 228. The bill would also change state law to make non-citizen ID unacceptable as photo ID at the polls.
In her support for HB 228, our friend, YeSun copied us on her written testimony to the Republicans on the (House) Special Committee on Election Integrity in time for a hearing scheduled for Friday, Feb 26, 2021.

Dear Republican members of the Special Committee on Election Integrity,

As I live in Evans, I am unable to attend any hearing on HB 228. Please consider this my written testimony and make it part of the record.

HB 228 is a simple bill that changes our law to insure that official ID credentials issued to foreign nationals are unacceptable at our polls. The bill also requires driver’s licenses and ID Cards issued to non-citizens to clearly state, “BEARER NOT A U.S. CITIZEN – NOT VOTER ID.” These would be commonsense adjustments in normal times, but after the chaos of the November elections, it is critical that this committee and the legislature pass HR 228 and send it to Gov. Kemp’s desk.

If the goal of this committee is to improve voters confidence in the election system, this bill should see a unanimous “do pass” vote.

The opponents of HB 228 claim that there is no evidence of non-citizens registering to vote, therefore, this legislation is not needed. *There are many documented cases of non-citizens voting since passing Motor Voter Act that was implemented in 1995 according to Associated Press, NPR and the Pew Center. For every documented case, there are likely hundreds if not thousands of cases that go unreported.
When people apply for Georgia driver’s license, the DDS automatically attempts to register them to vote. DDS personnel lack knowledge to discern the voting eligibility of the person receiving driver’s license because that is not and should not be their responsibility.  That responsibility belongs to board of elections registrar. There are non-citizens who do not realize that they were registered to vote at the time they received driver’s license. Once they are inadvertently registered, they can be targeted by organizations to vote or apply for absentee ballots, and sometimes vote illegally.

I have heard some legislators and activists who oppose any Voter ID laws say marking drivers licenses and ID cards to show the holder is not an American citizen is somehow “offensive to immigrants”.

From this immigrant who is a naturalized citizen and a retired Army veteran, I wholeheartedly support HB 228. I was not  born in the USA, but I am grateful everyday that I had a good fortune to immigrate to this wonderful country that afforded me opportunities I would have never had in my native country.  I respect the rule of law and treasure many freedoms I enjoy.  I value my voting rights and am determined to prevent a fraudulent vote to cancel my legal vote.

HB 228 is the simplest and clearest legislations I have read. I respectfully urge this committee to pass HB 228. Georgians are counting on you rebuild our confidence in Georgia’s election system.

Sincerely,

Updated – Libertarian pushed Gold Dome ‘reciprocity’ bill (HB147) would dismantle screening process for illegal aliens accessing professional licenses *UPDATED WITH ADDITION OF IDENTICAL SENATE BILL (SB45) INFO

February 10, 2021 By D.A. King

Georgia Capitol. Photo: DIS.

Because of a mixup here (entirely my fault), the fact that the below ‘reciprocity’ bill (HB 147) has an identical companion bill in the state senate was left out of the write-up. SB 45 has all the same problems and “free market” lobbyist drivers as HB 147. The text of SB 45 is here as are all of the sponsors. I was told there would be an amendment to require any reciprocity for professional licenses to adhere to the intent and language of existing verification law. I do not see an amendment reflected in this official current version of the bill.

Update: 4:50 PM Feb 11. – SB 45 has been amended (lines 45 & 46. You may need to hit refresh) to require compliance with the verifciation system in OCGA 50-36-1. We are grateful to Sen. Bruce Thompson.

To save time and confusion we list the sponsors – dak:

“The legislation is a rerun of a very similar bill last year from now-departed Rep Scot Turner (R- Holly Springs) that expired due to an excessive amount of scrutiny.”

Republicans calling themselves conservatives while proudly espousing “free markets” should not be allowed to ignore the fact that Georgia and the U.S. have a debilitating illegal immigration problem. One that is on its way to record and epic national proportions under the Biden Regime while it is totally ignored here by Governor “I have a Big Truck” Brian Kemp.

Under Georgia’s Gold Dome, Rep Heath Clark (R – Warner Robins) has introduced HB 147 that we are reliably informed is the work of Marc Hyden who is Director of State Government Affairs at the Libertarian Washington D.C. lobbying entity called ‘R Street” (“Free markets. Real solutions”). The bill is aimed at “reciprocity” in professional licensing. The nutshell explanation of the idea is that if an individual who holds a professional license in any other state relocates to Georgia, most of the current professional licensing process is waived.

Shorter: “Ya’ll come! If you or your employees have already been licensed by California, New York or any other state, we fast-track professional licensing and put your company to work in a flash, because “number one for business!”

Rep. Heath Clark. Photo: Twitter.

Clark has lined up a list of Republican co-signers who we are guessing don’t spend a lot of time thinking about illegal immigration or the fact that illegal employment is the main driver behind Georgia being home to more “undocumented workers” than green card holders.

With the thought that more voters should read pending legislation, along with a list of co-sponsors, below is the active ingredient in Rep Heath Clark & Co.’s bill:

HB 147

LC 36 4490

Sponsor: Rep Heath Clark ( R-Warner Robbins)

Visible Co-sponsors

Rep Rick Jasperse (R- Jasper)

Rep Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe)

Rep Dale Washburn (R-Macon)

Rep Chuck Martin (R- Alpharetta)

Rep Wes Cantrell (R-Woodstock)

 Beginning on line 33

“Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, a professional licensing board or other

board shall issue a license by endorsement to any individual that:

Moves from another state and establishes residency in this state;

Holds a current license to practice such occupation or profession issued by another

state that was acquired prior to moving from another state and establishing residency in

this state for which the training, experience, and testing are substantially similar in

qualifications and scope to the requirements under this state to obtain a license;

Is in good standing in such other state; and

Passes any examination that may only be required to demonstrate knowledge of the

laws and rules and regulations of this state specific to the practice of the profession,

business, or trade for which such license by endorsement is being sought…”

*Emphasis mine. dak

The legislation is a rerun of a very similar bill last year from now-departed Rep Scot Turner (R- Holly Springs) that expired due to an excessive amount of scrutiny.

Apparently either nobody involved with Clark’s dollar-first legislation has given thought to illegal immigration – or they just don’t care.

Current state law screens professional license applicants for U.S. citizenship or immigration status. If the entire law (OCGA 50-36-1) were actually enforced, it would go a long way to reducing the illegal population. Professional licenses are on the list of  ‘public benefits’ in Georgia code that this writer has been involved with creating, improving and protecting since 2006. Not always successfully.

HB 147 would end screening process for immigration status

If Clark and his co-sponsors were to be successful in putting the R Street ‘free market’ reciprocity ideology into state law as currently written , the process for screening out black market labor goes away. It is indisputable that making life difficult for illegal immigration results in a reduction of illegal aliens and HB 147 makes Georgia more hospitable to that group.

Shorter: “So what even more illegal aliens are flocking to Georgia to set up businesses to hire more illegal aliens – we are making mo’ money and are number one for business!”

Clark’s bill is gathering growing criticism. Dismantling longstanding state law aimed at preventing black market labor from accessing professional licenses is not a “real solution” to the fact that American families are struggling to make ends meet.

The slippery slope theory in politics dictates that soon after a bill like HB147 becomes law we would watch as the same reciprocity concept will be pushed for foreign-issued professional licenses.

International reciprocity on drivers licenses already here

Most Georgians have no idea that while we do still require a vision test, the Georgia Department of Drivers Services (DDS) already does reciprocity for drivers licenses issued by the Republic of South Korea. Because “number one for business…”

Why Biden’s Immigration Plan is Flawed – Mark Krikorian

January 31, 2021 By D.A. King

Open borders radicals protest immigration laws and borders, 2020. PHOTO: TWITTER

The radicalization of even the mainstream Left on immigration makes concessions—routine in prior amnesty proposals—unthinkable no

From The National Interest

By Mark Krikorian

January 29, 2021

The Biden administration made a show of proposing sweeping legislation that would legalize virtually all illegal aliens and enact a variety of measures to weaken immigration enforcement and increase legal immigration beyond the current level of about 1 million a year. This was no vague statement of principles—congressional staff received a fifty-nine-page, section-by-section summary of the bill.

In the midst of a devastating pandemic, a wrenching economic slowdown, and political instability, the White House signaled that its top priority is amnesty for illegal aliens.

But the bill has yet to be actually introduced in Congress. And it may never be.

That’s because, with an almost evenly divided Congress, it has no chance of passage. The bill was proposed on the president’s first day in office to satisfy a campaign pledge and as a gesture of solidarity with the party’s most radical anti-borders activists.

This is not to say there will be no congressional push for the tripartite immigration goals of the left (and its corporate and libertarian fellow-travelers): amnesty, hobbled enforcement, and more immigration. But the administration, congressional Democrats, and activists confessed to Politico recently that a series of smaller measures is more likely.
Or perhaps that should be “smaller”—because the downsized amnesties Democrats are likely to actually push are not small. They would give legal status to three, four, or even five million illegal aliens, more than were amnestied by the infamous 1986 law that was supposed to be a one-time measure. The Democrats’ priority-one illegals, as it were, include:

1. Adults who came as minors—the so-called Dreamers, including that subset who received DACA, the Obama administration’s amnesty-lite program to provide work permits and Social Security numbers, but not a path to citizenship;

2. Recipients of various “temporary,” but repeatedly renewed, statuses (TPS and DED), granted to people already here illegally when some sort of natural or man-made disaster strikes their home countries. Like the DACA recipients, these people have the meat and potatoes of amnesty—work permits and Social Security numbers—but only through statute can they get the dessert of a green card and eventual citizenship;

3. So-called “essential workers” such as farm workers.

While ten Republicans could probably be found in the Senate to back some of these measures, even the most pusillanimous among them would demand some kind of meaningful strengthening of enforcement in return.

“Meaningful” is the operative word here; the days of giving the Border Patrol a few drones and calling it enforcement are over. For proposals that would legalize one-third to one-half of the illegal population to have any hope of gaining traction, they would have to include, at least, things like mandatory use of E-Verify (the online system to check the legal status of new hires is currently voluntary), and a prohibition on state and local sanctuary policies that shield foreign-national criminals from the immigration consequences of their law-breaking.

The radicalization of even the mainstream Left on immigration makes such concessions—routine in prior amnesty proposals—unthinkable now.

So, if Congress is likely to be the source of sound and fury signifying nothing on immigration, what is in the cards? Executive actions.

President Joe Biden is following in the footsteps of his two predecessors by focusing on the use of executive authority to make what changes he can. He has decreed an ostensibly temporary ban on deportations—though Republicans, having learned from the last four years of relentless lawfare against Trump, have succeeded for now in getting a federal judge to temporarily put that decree on hold.

Biden also lifted the so-called “Muslim ban,” which was, in reality, a qualified prohibition on visa issuance to citizens of countries (not all of them majority Muslim) whose governments are unable or unwilling to provide us information to allow the visa applicants to be vetted.

A third decree, like the others issued on the new president’s first day in office, halted construction on the border wall. This has left gaps in the fence, contracts in limbo, and stacks of expensive building materials piled up on the ground.

More decrees are expected, including a dramatic increase in refugee admissions; a move to make it easier for people likely to be dependent on welfare to get green cards;.. read the rest at thenationalinterest.org

Gov. Kemp and House Lawmakers Ignoring Proven $100 Million Annual Revenue Source

System working in Oklahoma since 2010 involves no sports betting – misinformation from the liberal AJC has hindered consideration in the past

D.A. King

Georgia voters should be asking why Governor Kemp and all concerned under the Gold Dome are ignoring a proven successful process to create a new revenue stream estimated to add about $100 million to Georgia coffers annually.

It’s a refundable fee on money wired out of the state that has been working in Oklahoma for more than a decade and will not cost state tax-filers a penny.

Many of us would be keen on hearing about this from the assorted state lawmakers pushing to start the casino gambling stone down the hill by legalizing sports betting as source of revenue. With the current ongoing pandemic budget woes, $100 million in new, yearly revenue seems like real money.

Well-written legislation was introduced in previous years that would mimic a working system in Oklahoma that has added to that state’s budget since 2010. The Gold Dome legislation is still readily available. This idea may require citizen pressure to receive the focus it warrants because the “business first” special interest lobby in Atlanta has worked hard to keep the proven system out of public sight or official consideration. The measure has never seen a hearing.

Oklahoma has shown us a way to tap into the enormous amount of money that is sent out of Georgia every year that now goes nowhere near the Georgia economy or state coffers – and the best news is that the majority of that money comes from drug dealers and illegal aliens!

What is it? A small, 100% refundable fee on funds wired out of Georgia that tax-filers easily recoup on their state tax returns. In simple terms, it goes like this: Let’s say you wire $1000.00 to Aunt Tilly in New York to help with her rent – or you send part of your under-the-table cash wages from your landscaping job to family in Oaxaca. When the payment is sent out, the wire service would add on a small extra fee  (around 2%) – which you would get back when you file your tax return or a simple, short form explaining that you are not required to file a return.

The wire transfer agency would be compensated by the state for the collection effort.

The fee would be added to all the money the criminal black market – including illegal drug dealers and “undocumented workers” wire home literally every day.

The government of Mexico alone received about $25 billion American dollars in 2019, mostly from its citizens living here in the good old USA. That is more money than Mexico made on oil revenues. “Against initial estimates and despite the COVID-19 crisis, we estimate that remittances to Latin America and the Caribbean will reach US$ 70.4 billion (+6.0%) and in Mexico to US$ 39.5 billion (+8.4%) in 2020” according to economists who study the topic.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission for the year 2019, Oklahoma realized more than $19 million from the refundable wire transfer fee system, largely provided by black market labor. According to the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, Georgia has more illegal aliens than Arizona – and many more than Oklahoma. We don’t have figures on how many American dollars are sent out of Georgia by drug dealers, but Atlanta is a known terminus for that insidious organized crime.

The income for the state in this genius plan comes from the fact that the huge majority of criminals in the underground economy do not file a tax return.

Everyone who files a state tax return or special short form can get the fee back. Fake news from the Atlanta Journal Constitution on a previous attempt to see passage of this available revenue stream bill requires me to repeat: The fully refundable wire transfer withholding would apply to everyone who wires money out of Georgia, regardless of its final destination.

The AJC falsely reported that the fully refundable wire transfer fee concept is a “tax” and apply only to foreigners sending money to their home countries. And they didn’t seem to like the idea that it would affect illegal aliens.

We hope the Governor Kemp and concerned, responsible legislators will take a hard look at the proven $100 million a year revenue program for themselves – maybe even give it a hearing.

Georgia voters should do more than merely hope. Governor Kemp’s office is 404-656-1776.
