Victor Davis Hanson on future Dem voters: Two million illegal aliens in the next 12 months

Hanson: Dem push to grant citizenship to illegal immigrants will destroy civilization as we know it

August 3, 2021 | Kay Apfel | Print Article

Democrats are racing to shove mass amnesty into their $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation plan set to accompany the bipartisan infrastructure plan for joint approvals; if passed, however, America’s sovereignty and the founding principles that our nation was built on could crumble as historian Victor Davis Hanson told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson on Monday night.

With 2022 quickly approaching, Democrats are deeply concerned over Republicans’ opportunity to take back the House and the Senate. Democrats want to capitalize on the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens estimated to have flowed through the border this year alone by not only granting them amnesty but giving them the right to vote.

“It’s just as we are seeing the efforts to destroy the Electoral College, or pack the court, or have a national voter law. They feel the constituency of the present demography is not on their side, so they can’t wait to legally have residents come with green cards and go through the lengthy process of citizenship because they don’t think they’re going to be in power or they won’t have this moment. So they want to have residents immediately become equal to citizens and they know that citizenship is the foundation of western civilization,” Hanson explained.

The Democratic Party wants to weaponize immigration law and the immigration process for political control. Hanson used history as an indicator of how well this kind of policy turned out in the past.

“It was only 2,700 years ago when, in the Classical world, people said…we are a permanent fixed peoples, we have identifiable borders, we can make our own laws and elect our own officials and take governance into our own hands. We can’t do that if we are migratory tribes, or we don’t have a settled space or don’t have shared and collective customs and traditions that develop from settlement,” Hanson stated.

His insight exposes what Americans have comes to know as a frightening truth about radical Democrats– they renounce America and the very customs and traditions the nation is founded upon. They can’t even stand for their own flag or national anthem when representing America at the Olympics. It is a shameful spectacle that presents dangerous consequences.

“When we look at people crossing the border–2 million scheduled in the next 12 months–we don’t know who these people are, we don’t know if they speak our language or share our values, we don’t even know if they’ve ever voted before and the idea that the moment they come across – and the first decision they made was to break U.S. Law, the second will be to reside here illegally –  that they would be coequal to a citizen defies the whole concept of civilization,” the historian hammered the policy.

“Citizenship is already eroded, it is mentioned several times in the Constitution as an assumption and you don;t even have to define it. But it used to be the idea that a citizen could only hold elected office, could only vote, go only in and out of the country at his own permission and will, and could serve in the military, and was subject to the laws of the United States and now we see those are mostly eroded and the only thing that separates a citizen from somebody crossing the border on day one was that they could not hold office and they could not vote. Yet already people in some jurisdictions, school board elections in California are voting and there’s talk about even people holding office. When that happens and we are no different than Rome with people in the late fifth century A.D. coming across the Roman borders…with no difference in their status and Roman citizens and you know what happened after that,” Hansen warned.

Carlson responded that the left is stealing the country from American citizens.

The unprecedented provision expected to be part of the massive $3.5 trillion Democrat spending plan is just one of the policies included that threatens American freedom and to upend life as we know it…more here.

Friday surprise! Open borders Czar adds 100,000 Haitians to the permanent Temporary Protected Status amnesty list

July 30, 2021 By D.A. King

Nothing so permanent as Temporary Protected Status

Illegal aliens who made it to USA yesterday included

This morning’s email (posted below) from the Biden Regime brings news that Open Borders Czar Alejandro Mayorkashas made an administrative move to expand the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) already granted to 55,000 Haitians (many if not most who came here illegally before being rewarded with TPS) to include Haitians who were able cross into the U.S. illegally before today.

With TPS comes the much-coveted work permit and a (real) SSN. With those documents, the now legalized illegal aliens can get a drivers license and live pretty much like legal immigrants who come at a rate of about one million per year.

Do not let the intentionally misleading title “TPS” fool you. As Mark Krikorian has been explaining for years, there is nothing as permanent as Temporary Protected Status.

Know also that many Haitians did not come here illegally from Haiti. They had left hate long ago and moved to prosperity in other countries – including Chile.

Todd Bensman at CIS has exposed the media goop on this with on-the-ground coverage:

LA CRUZ, Costa Rica – A 24-year-old Haitian man  in a local motel near the bus station here – readying to move through Nicaragua – revealed a truth at sharp variance with common media and immigration-activist narratives about the large numbers of Haitians now illegally crossing the U.S. southern border.

“The story is that Haitians who are now flooding through and gaining admittance and bus rides to American cities need permanent asylum to avoid deportation to the violence, poverty, and government persecution they’ve just fled in their home country.

But Center for Immigration Studies interviews with the Haitian man pictured here and with dozens of others during a recent 10-day period in northern Costa Rica indicate that this narrative is mostly fable. Significant numbers of Haitians recently arrived in the U.S. or still en route enjoyed years of peace and relative prosperity in Chile, which boasts South America’s strongest economy and a government generous with residency and work authorization for Haitians. He and his brother arrived in Chile four years ago; its government has provided safe harbor to at least 185,000 Haitians as of 2020.”

We hope you will read the rest here.

Why does this matter? And what about 17 Republicans?

The “infrastructure” bill the U.S. Senate is planning on passing contains amnesty benefits for TPS recipients (as well as illegal aliens farmworker, young illegal aliens and illegal aliens who will be deemed as somehow “essential workers” – somewhere around eight million illegal aliens). That’s why. With the stroke of Mayorkas’ pen, the Democrats today added about 100,000 additional potential future voters to the list of illegal aliens who will be offered amnesty and a path to U.S. citizenship to the bill seventeen Republicans helped get to the floor this week,

Designation Allows Eligible Haitians Who Resided in the U.S. as of July 29 to Apply for TPS and Employment Authorization Documents

WASHINGTON—The Department of Homeland Security today posted for public inspection aFederal Register notice that provides information about how to register for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas previously announced this 18-month designation of Haiti for TPS on May 22.

The registration process will open next week when the FRN is published. All individuals who want to request TPS under this designation for Haiti must file an application.

This includes approximately 55,000 current TPS Haiti beneficiaries, whose TPS-related documentation is automatically extended at least through Oct. 4, 2021, in compliance with court orders. These individuals must file a new application for TPS under this designation to ensure they retain their status.

This designation of Haiti for TPS also enables an estimated 100,000 additional individuals to file initial applications for TPS, if otherwise eligible. To be eligible for TPS under this designation, individuals must demonstrate that they have continuously resided in the United States since July 29, 2021. In light of recent events in Haiti, including the July assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, Secretary Mayorkas has modified this date from what was previously announced. Individuals who attempt to travel to the U.S. after July 29, 2021, will not be eligible for TPS and may be subject to expulsion or removal.

Individuals applying for Haiti TPS must submit Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, during the 18-month initial registration period that runs from Aug. 3, 2021, through Feb. 3, 2023. Haiti TPS applicants are eligible to file Form I-821 online. When filing a TPS application, applicants can also request an Employment Authorization Document by submitting a completed Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, with their Form I-821. Applicants may also submit Form I-765 online.

A picture is worth 1000 words: The Georgia Chamber of Commerce posts a Tweet answering the question we are asked every day on immigration

July 26, 2021 By D.A. King

Why does business want to hinder immigration enforcement, support another amnesty and increase annual legal immigration numbers?

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce was kind enough to help us answer with the below Twitter post. It’s from the July 20, 2021 “Rural Prosperity Forum” they held in Tifton, GA. These meetings are part of a series.

DACA finally declared illegal – Center for Immigration Studies

July 19, 2021 By D.A. King

Reminder: Trump promised to end DACA “on day one…”

Center for Immigration Studies

By Robert Law on July 16, 2021

More than nine years after it was decreed, federal district judge Andrew Hanen has ruled on the merits that President Obama’s executive amnesty program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, is illegal.

On June 15, 2012, then-Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano established DACA through a brief memorandum titled, “Exercising Prosecutorial Discretion with Respect to Individuals Who Came to the United States as Children”. In just three pages, the Napolitano memo unilaterally implemented the general framework of the DREAM Act, amnesty legislation that Congress repeatedly rejected since 2001. Under the guise of prosecutorial discretion against immigration enforcement, DACA also awarded work permits and Social Security numbers to illegal aliens who claimed they entered the country before age 16 and met other criteria. At its peak, almost 800,000 illegal aliens benefited from DACA. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services data, there are currently approximately 616,030 illegal aliens who are active DACA recipients.

Emboldened after a few years of DACA operating on autopilot without legal challenge (though with plenty of outside commenters objecting), the Obama administration attempted to expand DACA and also create a new executive amnesty program for the illegal alien parents of U.S. citizen and lawful permanent resident children, known as DAPA. Judge Hanen drew that case and in February 2015 enjoined DAPA and the DACA expansion, finding that it violated the Administrative Procedure Act (APA). As Andrew Arthur previously explained, the Fifth Circuit affirmed Judge Hanen’s ruling in November 2015, which was then affirmed by an evenly divided Supreme Court in 2016. Subsequently, Judge Hanen drew the assignment for the legal challenge to DACA. On August 31, 2018, more than six years after DACA was implemented, Judge Hanen issued an order finding that that DACA likely violates the APA, but given the plaintiffs’ “unreasonable delay in seeking relief”, he declined to issue a preliminary injunction.

While this legal battle played out in south Texas, Donald Trump was elected president and vowed to terminate DACA on “Day One”. That did not happen, but on September 4, 2017, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions sent then-Acting DHS Secretary Elaine Duke a letteradvising her to rescind DACA, explaining that DACA was “an unconstitutional exercise of authority by the Executive Branch”. The next day, Duke rescinded DACA but delayed the effective date until March 5, 2018, allowing illegal alien DACA recipients whose benefits would have expired before that date to apply for renewal for another month, until October 5, 2017.

That termination was challenged by illegal alien advocates and Andrew Arthur concisely explains the tortured history of the Trump administration’s attempt to end DACA. Eventually the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Duke memo itself failed the requirements of the APA and directed the Trump administration to try again.

Joe Biden’s electoral victory in November 2020 interrupted those efforts and on his Inauguration Day, Biden issued a presidential memorandum to the AG and DHS secretary “preserving and fortifying” DACA. For nearly six months of the Biden administration, DACA operated in the status quo—the illegal aliens who held its benefits kept them and could renew them.

Now Judge Hanen has finally ruled on the merits, finding that DACA was an “illegally implemented program” and that “the public interest of the nation is always served by the cessation of a program that was created in violation of law and whose existence violates the law.” Despite those strong words, Hanen neuters the impact of his decision, claiming that “[h]undreds of thousands of individual DACA recipients, along with their employers, states, and loved ones, have come to rely on the DACA program.” Based on this flawed reasoning, Hanen concludes:

Given those interests, it is not equitable for a government program that has engendered such a significant reliance to terminate suddenly. This consideration, along with the government’s assertion that it is ready and willing to try to remedy the legal defects of the DACA program indicates that equity will not be served by a complete and immediate cessation of DACA.

Establishing a “reliance interest” for an illegal program for illegal aliens takes the winds out of the sails of advocates for the rule of law. As a result, the current DACA population continues to keep their (illegal) benefits (although no new applications may be approved), making Hanen’s ruling yet another mostly symbolic victory.

With certain Republican senators already expressing a willingness to amnesty the DACA population, despite similarly concluding that the program is unlawful, it remains to be seen if the Democratic leadership will now entertain a narrower bill in light of Judge Hanen’s ruling.
