Victory on HB 120! The non-profit Dustin Inman Society needs help to continue #KaseyCarpenter

March 12, 2021 By D.A. King

 WE WON!

We are proud to have led the battle to stop HB 120, state legislation to allow illegal aliens to pay lower tuition in Georgia’s public universities than Americans and legal immigrants.

Together, we prevailed over the efforts of millionaire & billionaire lobbyist groups! Thank you again for your phone calls, emails and visits to the Georgia Capitol!

The Dustin Inman Society was founded in 2005 and has operated on personal funds and donations. We are totally out of personal funds. If you are able, please consider helping us continue?

The illegal alien lobby is financed by corporate-Georgia, including Coca-Cola, Georgia Power, Cox Enterprises and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

We are pro-enforcement and depend on contributions from pro-borders Americans. Thank you in advance if you are able to help. It is humiliating to ask.

You can contribute HERE using PayPal or credit card. All donations are private. We are a 501(C) (4) IRS non-profit.

The open borders left hates us. The liberal Georgia media has cancelled us. Please see the DIS website. Even if you are unable to help financially, please get on our Action Alert list to stay informed?

We cannot contact and educate people individually any longer.

An Orwellian gimmick: Scratch ‘instate tuition’ and ‘illegal aliens’ – it’s “Opportunity Tuition” and “Opportunity Students” in Georgiafornia #HB120

March 9, 2021 By D.A. King

A version of the below column was posted yesterday (March 8) on the widely read subscription website, Insider Advantage Georgia. It was also sent to every Republican member of the Georgia House early yesterday morning. Yesterday was “Crossover Day” in the Republican-majority Georgia General Assembly, after which any bill that did not pass out of either chamber is dead for the year – unless it is attached to another bill that did cross over. HB 120 was set to pass but an oversupply of education distributed to grassroots GOP voters stopped it.
Americans win one. After much labor,  as of about 10:45 PM March 8, HB 120 is now as dead as Pancho Villa for 2021 (see above caveat).

Conservative Georgia voters are “give-me-that-phone” outraged that HB 120 passed out of the Republican-controlled House Higher Education Committee last week. Sponsored by Rep.  Kasey Carpenter, R-Dalton, the bill adjusts Georgia law so illegal aliens pay far less in the public post–secondary education system than Americans and legal immigrants who live in most other states.

It’s being called “equity.” And “workforce development.”

Dalton Rep Kasey Carpenter. Photo: Ga House.

The measure is aimed specifically at recipients of former President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This is notable in that contrary to Carpenter’s previous claims and agenda-driven, inaccurate media reports, the bill as moved actually now does contain a reference to “DACA” for the first time. Including the billionaires at the little-known FWD.us lobbying corporation, Carpenter has widespread and effective support from the usual special interest suspects.

HB 120 advanced last Thursday by a 16-4 vote in the 25–member committee with all Democrats “present” (it was a ‘hybrid’ meeting) except, apparently, Rep Scott Holcombe. With the exception of Rep Calvin Smyre, they all voted “yes.” Smyre is the Dean of the House. He voted “here.”

Republicans Trey Kelly and David Knight were absent.

Voting with the Dems were Republicans Carpenter, Clay Pirkle, Dale Washburn, Marcus Wiedower, Rick Williams, Robert Dickey, Bert Reeves and Katie Dempsey.

The last two names deserve extra attention. Before the vote, Reeves offered public remarks to Carpenter thanking him for his courage and inspiration in sponsoring the illegal alien-friendly legislation and cited un-named “blatant lies” involved in the widespread opposition to the bill. Reeves was not a sponsor of HB 120.

Dempsey’s “yes” vote appears to reflect a leftward evolution in that she was a co–sponsor of Georgia’s nationally–publicized, pro-enforcement ‘Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011 (HB87).

GOP Rep. Katie Dempsey. Photo: General Assembly website.

Currently, illegal aliens – including DACA recipients – must pay out-of-state tuition in the public-funded higher education schools that allow them to attend. For academic year 2020-2021, the average tuition & fees for Colleges in Georgia was $4,732 for in-state and $17,060 for out-of-state.

Without so much as a nod to Georgia Orwell, in place of the words “in–state tuition,” the latest language in Carpenter’s HB 120 creates a new tier of charges called “Opportunity Tuition.”

The new “opportunity tuition” rates for illegal aliens with DACA would be no more than 110 percent of the in–state rate. The illegal alien beneficiaries would be known as “Opportunity Students.”

The gimmick is actually quite ingenious in a Snidely Whiplash sort of way. But we are guessing that an immigrant family in Michigan or New York etc. who obeyed our laws to join the American family will disagree. They may not grasp why they must pay much more for the opportunity to send their kid to Kennesaw State University than a family who illegally jumped a border fence (or overstayed their visitor visa) for the opportunity to live illegally in the Peach State.

According to DHS, Georgia is home to more illegal aliens than Arizona.

Word is that at least some of the Regents were given the opportunity to learn about the proposed new tuition structure well after Thursday’s committee vote.

If the House Rules chairman sends HB 120 to the floor, now wide-awake Republican voters will have the opportunity to see how their representatives vote on special treatment for “‘victims of borders” in college tuition. It will be a timely lesson, as there are tens of thousands more on their way right now.

The HB 120 bill language, committee voting record and a link to the official video of the March 4, 2021 committee meeting can be seen here. Previous InsiderAdvantage Georgia coverage of HB 120 here.

#Georgiafornia: Georgia Budget and Policy Institute now openly advocating for drivers licenses for illegal aliens

March 4, 2021 By D.A. King

Photo: Twitter

We will not argue that the USA and Georgia would have a larger economy if we had open borders. It’s just that we love our nation more than profits.

Illegal aliens who demand the same driving privileges as U.S. citizens should migrate to California – the illegal immigration Capital of the world.

The anti-enforcement Georgia Budget and Policy Institute is now openly pushing the idea of granting Georgia drivers licenses to illegal aliens, even illegals outside of the Obama DACA program who have been getting drivers licecses and ID Cards in the Peach State since 2012. Doubters should read about that from the Associated Press.

“Green-Light Georgia Driver’s Licenses for All Immigrants” goes the headline on the GBPI website promoting the same worn open borders talking points that the illegal alien lobby has stuck to for decades. It’s “anti-racist.”

*Expanded access to a driver’s card promotes family unity and enhances road safety.

*GBPI projects that approximately 165,000 Georgia immigrants could benefit from expanded access to driving privileges.

*During the first three years of implementation, the state could gain almost $17 million in revenue from driver’s card fees, motor fuel taxes, vehicle registration, vehicle title and standard license plate fees.

GBPI joined in the now successful effort to remove the life-saving 287(g) program from Cobb and Gwinnett counties. You can read about who leads GBPI on their ‘staff and board’ page.

Make no mistake, these corporate-funded radicals want Georgia to be even more like California than it already is.

The problem with SAVE: December 2020 email from senior USCIS executive on SAVE response to immigration status for illegal aliens with DACA status

March 2, 2021 By D.A. King

Image: USCIS.

The problem with SAVE: USCIS does not always respond to SAVE queries on immigration status with actual immigration status.

The below email was sent from a (very) senior Trump era USCIS executive in response to our constant alerts, questions and complaints about the responses from the SAVE system to immigration status queries from agencies that administer public benefits. Temporary employment authorization (‘Temp Employment Auth’) is not an immigration status under the INA – and only congress can create immigration law. SAVE clearly says they report immigration status. They don’t.

We did send suggestion for replacement language, but the clock ran out on the change over to the Biden administration purge of pro-enforcement bureaucrats. This process began with this write up.

From the SAVE website:

SAVE

Electronic Immigration Status Verification

SAVE is a fast, secure, and reliable online service that allows federal, state, and local benefit-granting agencies to verify a benefit applicant’s immigration status or naturalized/derived citizenship.

SAVE is administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, a component of the Department of Homeland Security, and is dedicated to providing tailored training, support, and service to meet participating agency needs.

We added the link in “Guide to Understanding SAVE Verification Responses.”

The email begins below this line.

Subject: Re: Question about SAVE

Hey *******,

SAVE currently produces the following response for DACA:

Applicant Status: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

Employment Eligibility: Employment Authorized – Temp Emp Auth

A non-national of the U.S. who has been granted administrative relief under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Relief is granted for a specific period of time and during that period, the applicant is employment authorized if he or she has a valid employment authorization document. See the Guide to Understanding SAVE Verification Responses for additional information. Follow your agency’s policy when determining whether this applicant is eligible for benefits.

[There is also a field for the EAD expiration date]

I am working to get the description further revised. Let me know if you have any language you think would be beneficial to include.”
